Progressive update on MAP (Malaysian Advancement Party) assistance in providing basic food products for the poor community dependent on daily salary.
Since we launched this voluntary assistance on 20th March, 2020, MAP’s state coordinators and their team members had received the following number of phone calls.
- Kedah – 215 calls
- Perak – 135 calls
- Selangor – 215 calls
- FT – 173 calls
- Negeri Sembilan- 90 calls
- Melaka- 97 calls
- Johor – 174 calls
- Pahang – 65 calls
- Penang – 45 calls
We have noted that many of them are predominantly women folks being single income earners holding low skilled employment such as dish washers, daily house maids, construction site worker, general worker etc. (Pls note their salary is in the range of RM20-RM50 and many of them have at least 2 to 3 young dependents).
They have no saving and generally live with their daily income generated that has been currently hampered with the Movement Control Order.
Our MAP teams is trying the best to assist in at least providing the basic food items such as 5kg of rice, 2 litre of cooking oil, 1kg of flour, 1kg of lentils, standard packet of mee hoon and a medium size sardine.
MAP is trying its best to purchase and supply those items for those families within their limited resources and will continue to do so.
As the calls seem to be increasing and the needs too, if any organisations or individuals who are genuinely keen to join in to donate the food items for our teams to continue serving the needy, please contact our MAP state coordinators as follows:
